This experiment was carried out to determine the effects of auxins and cytokinins for callus formation and organogenesis from shoot-tips of 5 turfgrass species. The results were summarized as follows:
1) At the concentration of 2 to 5§·/§¤, 2, 4-D was more effective as auxin source in callus formation than NAA, and cytokinins had no effects.
2) Shoots of Korean lawngrass, Z. koreana, creeping bentgrass, and bermudagrass were the longest at the concentration of 5§·/§¤ NAA without cytokinins. But, NAA was ineffective on shoot elongation of Kentucky bluegrass.
3) Shoot initiation of Korean lawngrass and Z. koreana was the most suitable at the concentration of 1 to 2§·/§¤ BA than kinetin, but shoot initiation of creeping bentgrass was better in kinetin than in BA.
4) NAA treatment at the concentration of 2§·/§¤ was effective for rooting of 5 species, while BA and kinetin repressed root initiation.
